Project brief: Re-designing room layout of the Mbekweni low-cost housing project in Paarl, Western Cape, for a single use While keeping the structural integrity of the the dwelling and only making minor changes to the facade of the structure and illustrating technical details

The intent was to design a layout that is semi-private for a single occupant use. the selection of an open-plan layout for public and semi-public spaces in the dwelling, creates a sense of a large space that is not limited by walls that divide the spaces. to create a more private space in the dwelling, the finished floor level of the private area is raised from the ground floor level to create a mezzanine level without closing off the space.
